If you are like most people, this time of year you are taking a few minutes to pause and reflect on all that you are thankful for.
I certainly have a long list myself.
But I put mine on hold for a minute and made a list for my kids! Because kids don’t know how good they have it today, right!?
Ok, ok…I understand this puts me one step from telling my children that I had to walk to school barefoot in the snow…uphill…both ways. But here it goes anyway.
10 things kids today should be thankful for:
1. Remote controls – When I was a kid…I was the remote control. If it was time to change the channel to one of the other three options, I was getting up and walking across the room to turn the dial. (Yes, kids, TVs had dials!)
You only have 936 weeks with your kids before they are adults. That’s it.
I like to say my daughter is only seven years old, but the reality is that means 364 of those weeks are gone. That’s almost 40%…and when I think about it like that, it really FREAKS ME OUT!!
Time is ticking…our kids aren’t kids for long, so as parents, we have to make each day count!
My sister has these words painted around the top of her living room wall – “The most wasted day of all is one in which we have not laughed.”
That’s how I feel! And I don’t want to waste any days, especially with my children.
So, how do you make each day with your kids count?
If you’ve been married for more than five minutes, chances are someone has asked you the following question. “How did you know she was the one?”
The person asking is often single and evaluating their own relationship.
Well, if you’re trying to determine whether or not it’s time to take the next step with that special someone in your life, I’ve got a foolproof way for you to figure that out.
If you can make it through these activities…and still be on speaking terms the next day…order the 50th Anniversary cake now!
Okay parents, let’s be honest. We love spending time with our kids, but sometimes we could use a break from the nightly routine of baths and bedtime.
Am I right? Too bad there’s not an app for that!
The other night I was in the middle of giving both kids a bath and putting them both to bed, (I know, Dad of the Year stuff, right?!) pondering how I’d gotten into that situation…when it hit me.
You see, I was actually doing this because my wife wasn’t at home.
I was doing this because she had the perfect excuse for getting out of bath and bed duty that night.
Have you ever noticed all the different ways people clap during big church on Sunday mornings? (That’s right, I still call it “big church.”)
In case you aren’t familiar with all the different types, I put together this video for you.
Don’t you just want to hug that one person that can’t seem to clap on beat and say “bless your heart”?
